Amazon Counterfeit Listings: How Brand Reporting Actually Works

Whether you're enrolled in Amazon's Brand Registry or not, here's what evidence actually moves a report, and what no outside service can substitute for.

Amazon's counterfeit reporting works differently depending on whether you're enrolled in Amazon's own Brand Registry program, which is Amazon's system, tied to your own registered trademark, not something any outside service can grant or substitute for.

If you're enrolled in Brand Registry, Amazon gives you access to a Report a Violation tool that can process faster than the public route, since Amazon has already verified your trademark ownership at enrollment. If you're not enrolled, Amazon still provides a public infringement report form open to any rights holder.

What evidence actually moves a report

  1. A full screenshot of the listing

Including the seller name and product ASIN.

  2. The exact listing URL

Not a search result page. The specific product listing.

  3. A comparison between the genuine product and the counterfeit

    Where possible, side by side.

  4. A test purchase, where practical

Tends to be the strongest evidence available, since it produces a real physical comparison rather than just photos.

One thing worth knowing honestly: Amazon tracks the accuracy of violation reports over time, and filing reports against sellers who turn out to be legitimate has real consequences for the reporting account. This cuts both ways: it's part of why a well-documented, accurate report tends to move faster than a vague one, and part of why reports should only be filed when the evidence genuinely supports the claim.

We help investigate and document these cases and prepare the report for submission. We don't hold any special standing with Amazon, and no service legitimately can. Every report goes through Amazon's own review, on Amazon's own timeline.

If you've found a counterfeit listing:

We review the listing, document the comparison, and identify which report path fits your enrollment status before anything is submitted.
